Reforestation WITHOUT Irrigation


This article comes from Professor Van Cotthem’s Desertification blog (always to the right of these posts). I select it because of my experience in Burkina Faso years ago. The northern part of the country has been in declining quality for many decades and the recovery efforts as shown in this latest link are very profound.

While the Sahel is an extreme example of desertification, it is a reminder of what can happen to dryland that is not managed properly and is further impacted by climate warming and the demands of increasing populations.
